Climate Change

WIPO’s Global Challenges program aims to provide information relevant to balanced approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Particular attention is given to establishing new platforms for the development, transfer and diffusion of technological solutions.  The program leverages a range of WIPO services in a focused manner to support the discussions and decision-making processes if various organizations, including UN sister organizations. Included in these services are the global technology databases of WIPO, or WIPO GOLD, Technology and Innovation Support Centers, TISCs, and a range of other activities, such as technology and/or patent landscapes.

The program also elaborates insights into the relationship between intellectual property and environmentally sound technologies (see Briefs & Reports), and developed WIPO GREEN PDF, WIPO Green, Brochure. WIPO GREEN, currently available in pilot version, is a technology marketplace that facilitates the accelerated adaptation, adoption and deployment of environmentally sound technologies, particularly in developing countries and emerging economies.
